Congratulations to Jude Evans for winning the Sheelagh Vaughan Memorial Trophy at the Merionnydd Running Club annual AGM held recently in Dolgellau.
This award , in memory of Sheelagh Vaughan a founder member of the running Club, is awarded to the best new runner. Sheelagh's husband Frankie is still a member of the club.
Jude joined the Merionnydd Running Club in October 2010.
" It was a great honour to receive this award - both Dylan and Jamie are very keen runners, and this has motivated me right from the start. I'd much rather stay at home on wet Wednesday nights but they drag me along to the training nights and of course in the end I'm always pleased I went!"
" I really enjoy running and the club is very supportive to everyone, especially new runners. I'm competing in a trail half marathon in June www.trailmarathon.com so that is my next big event... after the Celtic Challenge of course!! "
Secretary of Merionnydd Running Club Kevin Jones, said, "Although technically Jude is not a 'new' runner she has been a very loyal member since she joined in 2010 - consistantly attending training runs, representing our club at many races, has run a half and full marathon , always supporting her son Jamie and husband Dylan at races, as well as now being our Treasurer and of course juggling work, home life and her other sporting passion - rowing! "
Well done Jude!
