Sunday, May 12th was a busy day for Aberdyfi Rowing Club!

While some of our rowers travelled up north to Beaumaris for Celtic racing, a group of scullers from our club travelled even further- down south to Fishguard for a Sculling Regatta.

This was a first sculling regatta for many of our rowers and all the recent enthusiasm and dedication to training really paid off in Fishguard as Aberdyfi won in all their categories.

Conditions were slightly windy so it was a little choppy on the water but dry and sunny. Our scullers reported back that it was a very well run and enjoyable day with a broad spectrum of abilities on the water from elite GB rowers to complete novices!

Our sculling captain Dai said," Fishguard Rowing Club put on a superb event." 

" The sun was shining and not too windy so good conditions for sculling. Aberdyfi entered 7 members who all performed brilliantly against much younger competition."

" Our top women's double crew of Jane and Cath came second overall despite being in the 50+ age group - proof that experience can sometimes outshine youth."

" Bob and Javi in their first sculling race worked hard to come first in their 40+ age group."

" We had two quad crews- one racing in the women's over 40+ and the other in the mixed.  Both quads came first in their respective age groups."

" We are really pleased with our results and are now looking forward to the Welsh Championships to be held here in Aberdyfi on June 15th"

Sunday was a great day of racing for Aberdyfi and as our Celtic rowing captains Kevin and Tracey both said, "A brilliant day today - well done to everyone involved in both Fishguard and Beaumaris. Aberdyfi rowers and scullers did us proud.  A massive thankyou to everyone involved- rowers, coxes and towers"
