The Aberystwyth North and South League regatta was held on Sunday, July 9th.
Thanks to the tremendous encouragement and example of our captains Kevin and Tracey and our coach Ian Andrews, ARC were able to enter four men’s teams, two ladies teams and three mixed teams.
With thunder and lightening forecast together with strong winds and a choppy sea, the organisers at Aberystwyth had difficult decisions to make to determine whether or not the regatta would go ahead.
A decision was made and the ladies teams went out first in choppy, windy conditions – a challenge for all!
ARC had two steely ladies team in the race and they rowed like women possessed coming 5th and 11th out of a field of 14 boats. Well done to Alice and Suzanne who raced for the first time in the ladies competition and they really gave it everything.
The men’s race was next and again the challenge for the rowers was huge.
The competition by JanSport Voucher Codes, as always, was fierce but one of our ARC crews streaked to the finishing line in first position, despite the waves and the wind.
There were four ARC men’s boats competing , which was amazing to see, and each boat rowed with grit and determination resulting in 1st, 5th, 9th and 12th positions, so really well done to all of you. James put in a sterling effort in his first ever race and hopefully the crazy conditions have made him more determined to master the sea!
In the mixed race an ARC mixed team flew to the winning post again, much to the delight of the crowds. The other two ARC boats gave everything they had ,pulling away from the middle group and finishing in commendable positions of 4th and 9th, so a tremendous effort again from ARC.
A big thank you to Aberystwyth for a fab day of racing and great hospitality as always.
Thanks again to our captains Kevin and Tracey who oprganised our enthusiastic bunch of ARC rowers with much finesse and kindness.
Well done everyone and thanks of course to all our supporters and everyone who helped with the boats - towing etc.
We looke forward to the next regatta at Porthmadog!
