Newquay Regatta , Sunday May 28th ..
read David's report..
Thanks to fine weather, choppy challenging seas, good hosts and a great Aberdyfi squad, another
successful Regatta was thoroughly enjoyed at the Joint League races held at Newquay on Sunday, May 28th.
First out was our Ladies team - Claire, Rhian, Kara & Catrin, coxed by Ian (Brown).
They had a strong start , held their lead throughout and secured a resounding win. Congratulations!
For the Men’s race, Aberdyfi had two teams entered...
Our Seniors - David, Paul(Chesworth), Dylan & Paul (Cruickshank), coxed by Claire were
beaten to the first buoy by Aberystwyth by 25 mtrs. They fought back and overtook Aberystwyth in the second half to secure our second winner’s trophy.
The second men's team were our SuperVets - Nigel, Ian (Andrews), Tom & Ian (Brown), coxed by Kara.
They came second in their category, beating their old rivals Porthmadog and Ynys Mon.
In the Mixed Race we entered two teams- Seniors and Super Vets- from a combination of the
above rowers, winning both categories, coming first and second (by 16 strokes! ) across the line in a field of about 25 boats!
A great day - 4 wins and 1 second place!
Thanks again to our hosts Newquay for a very enjoyable day of Joint League racing!
....However- there was a notable absence of Aberdyfi crews in the Juniors/Novice race......
So- come on you Juniors- our Regatta is next ( 18th June)...
We need you! |
