IAN`S LANZAROTE IRONMAN CHALLENGE
On 18th May Ian took part in the Lanzarote
With 1800 taking part the competitors first congregate on Puerto Del Carmen beach for
a 7am mass start.
The swim out at sea is then 2.4 miles in total and is made up of 2
x 1.2 mile laps.
Following the swim there is a 112 mile bike ride around the
island passing through many villages where the locals all come out to cheer the
On returning to Puerto Del Carmen the bike is exchanged for running shoes and the competitors take on the final challenge of a 26 mile run. This run takes
place along the shoreline in a 3 lap course.
The time allowed for completing
the ironman is 17 hours so at midnight the competition ends.
