Aberdyfi Regatta a great success!
sun shines at Aberdyfi for Race day.....

Great rowing by Aberdyfi teams in men's, ladies and mixed races....
After days of heavy rain and windy conditions the weather improved and the sun shone at last at Aberdyfi for our Rowing Regatta on Sunday, June 17th.
Our Club captain Alun Stedman said,"  Thank goodness we had some good weather for rowing at last.... !   and I'm pleased we had such a good turn out. Although this is a Northern League event we welcome teams from the Southern League who also came up to be a part of our regatta.
We had teams from Portmadoc, Barmouth, Borth, Aberystwyth Ynys Mon and Newquay here today as well our own Aberdyfi teams.  We were racing inside the estuary which makes the event a better spectator sport for everyone in the village.  They were timed races today because of the tide and we have had some great racing, with only seconds between some boats.
Only one Yole rower took part today from Aberystwyth, great to see him here but hope more Yoles will compete next time!"
In the men's race Aberdyfi's men's team of  Ian Andrews,Ed Moss, Dylan Evans and Paul Cruickshank with cox Clare Lever were first oveall in a time of 40 minutes and 42 seconds,  just beating the second overall and first men's vets team to finish - Aberdyfi's Dave Rice, Paul Chesworth, Dave Chapman and Lindsay Parry with cox Ian Brown - by 12 seconds. Third overall were Newquay in a time of 42 minutes and 42 seconds

Our Club captain Alun Stedman was pleased with the day of racing. " I hope everyone has enjoyed the day, which was enhanced once again by the wonderful, informative race commentary from David Roberts. .Thanks to all who have helped out today in whatever capacity - whether marshalling, safety boats, catering - it all helps to make the day a success .  Great to see the different clubs here again and that the healthy, friendly but very real competition between us all is still gong strong!"
"I am very pleased in particular with Aberdyfi's own achievements which show the strength and depth we now have in our club. Its great that we can rotate members so well between the different teams and still have excellent results "
Well done all!
