A.R.C. crew take on the Castle 2 Castle Challenge
Saturday, October 11th.

Congratulations to our A.R.C. crew of Paul, Suzanne, Peter, Alice and James who took part in the Castle 2 Castle Challenge- a race of 13 miles from Beaumaris to Caernarfon - and finished with a great result-  Senior Mixed winners !

Crew member Peter said, " This was a physically challenging race, despite superb condiitions for rowing - an autumnal sun and zero wind.

There were 22 boats taking part and Aberdyfi got off to a flying start - proving all the race practise we have been doing all season paid off!

James and I switched as cox/stroke during the race and the others stayed focussed, concentrating hard, and for some it was their first endurance race so was quite a test!

We kept a great lead most of the way but in the last quarter of a mile we were overtaken by an all male crew."

Canon fire heralded the end of our race after a tough 13 miles of rowing but we were thrilled to be the first mixed seniors to cross the line in our category"

It was a terrific experience and there was a great atmosphere everywhere with plenty of bystanders cheering on all crews from the two bridges."

We were all relieved that this amazing challenge was able to go ahead after the disappointing cancellations we have had this season due to bad weather conditions."

Thanks must go of course to Caernarfon Y.C. for their wonderful hospitality, as always."

We hope to be back again next year to take on the Castle 2 Castle Challenge!"
