Our two Aberdyfi crews competing in this year's London
Great River Race continued with our successful record of good results in this very challenging race.
The men's veteran crew of Nigel Pearson, Alun Stedman, Dave
Rice,Tom Jones , Dave Seabourne and Mike Rogers came second in the over 40 age
category, with a time of 2 hours and 31 minutes - a very good result considering
they had an average age of over 60!
The ladies crew of Claire Lever, Beth Parry, Deb
Wood, Rhian Jones with cox Ed Moss and passenger Sara Moss finished third in
their category in a time of 2 hours and 43 minutes, only losing second place in
the last two miles of the 21 mile race.
The conditions were good, resulting in a
fast course and our club Captain Alun Stedman was pleased with the
results, especially as it was a new experience for some crew members and also
the first time for two of the coxes to cox this race on the Thames, which - as indeed it proved to be - can be
a daunting and very challenging experience!
